On Saturday, 17th October, 2015, the Centre for Common Law organised an IP workshop for as part of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone (SFTZ) project focusing on ‘Parallel Imports and Exhaustion of Rights’.
Professors Guo He, Deputy Dean of the IP Academy of Renmin University of China Law School, and Duncan Matthews, Chair in IP Law at Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), were invited to be keynote speakers. The former gave an overview of the key issues regarding parallel imports and overseas export market (OEM) exports in the SFTZ. The latter gave a presentation on the issues from a European perspective.
Professor Spyros Maniatis and Professor Ioannis Kokkoris from the Centre for Commercial Law Studies also commented on the issues.
The workshop was well attended by academics researching IP, judges from IP courts and research students. It was supported by the Great Britain China Centre.
